Hampden District Celebrates Climate Ready Housing Grant Award
Local leaders today announced a major investment in affordable, energy‑efficient housing for Hampden District residents through the FY26 Climate Ready Housing (CRH) Grant Awards. Way Finders, Inc. has been selected to receive $1,000,000 to support a Zero Over Time decarbonization project at the Rainville property, which provides 43 units of stable housing for vulnerable, low-income households.
The CRH Program, administered by Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) and MassHousing on behalf of the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC), aims to reduce energy use, lower carbon emissions, and make housing more resilient for residents across the Commonwealth. Funding for the program comes from the Commonwealth’s 2021 Economic Development Bond Bill and the 2024 Affordable Homes Act.
The Rainville project is expected to achieve a 32% energy savings through improvements including window replacements, ventilation upgrades, and partial electrification, laying the groundwork for full future electrification. These upgrades will help shield residents from rising energy costs and build long-term stability within the community.
