Senator Gómez Applauds Cybersecurity Grant for MLK, Jr. Charter School of Excellence
State Senator Adam Gómez (D-Springfield) is applauding the Healey-Driscoll Administration's announcement that the Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence has been selected to receive funding through the Commonwealth's first-ever Cybersecurity Remediation Grant Program.
Administered by the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) in partnership with the Community Compact Cabinet, the program provides targeted investments to help municipalities and school districts address cybersecurity vulnerabilities, modernize technology infrastructure, and strengthen protections against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence was among a select group of schools and communities statewide chosen to receive funding through the initiative, which builds upon the state's Cybersecurity Health Check Program.
"Technology plays a critical role in how schools educate students, communicate with families, and deliver essential services every day," said Senator Gómez. "As cyber threats continue to evolve, it is critical that our schools have the tools and infrastructure needed to protect sensitive information and maintain safe, reliable operations. This investment in the Martin Luther King Jr. Charter School of Excellence will help strengthen cybersecurity protections, support educators and staff, and ensure students can continue learning without disruption. I am grateful to the Healey-Driscoll Administration for recognizing that investments in school cybersecurity are investments in educational opportunity and for ensuring Springfield students and families have the resources they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world."
The Cybersecurity Remediation Grant Program enables recipients to address vulnerabilities identified through no-cost cybersecurity assessments and implement high-priority improvements. Grant funding supports projects such as replacing outdated hardware, strengthening network infrastructure, enhancing cybersecurity governance, and improving risk management practices.
The 2026 Cybersecurity Remediation Grant Program awarded $1 million to municipalities and school districts across eight Massachusetts counties.
