Gomez announces FY25 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grants for Hampden district
Senator Adam Gomez (D-Springfield) joins Governor Maura Healey and Secretary of Public Safety and Security Terrence Reidy in announcing FY 2025 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant funding for the fire departments of the cities of Chicopee and Springfield.
“Firefighters across Massachusetts are often times faced with a unique set of circumstances when combatting man-made or natural fires,” said Senator Gomez. “In order to execute technical rescues and treat injuries in addition to fighting fires, our local fire departments need valuable grant dollars to ensure the safety of our firefighters and our communities. I am thankful to Secretary Reidy and the Healey-Driscoll administration for these life-saving investments in the Hampden district.”
The fire departments of the cities of Chicopee and Springfield will receive $14,162.68 and $35, 521.67, respectively. Fire departments will use this funding to purchase a wide variety of equipment that will make impactful improvements to the safety of their personnel. Many will be outfitting their firefighters with new protective gear, while others will be acquiring important tools such as thermal imaging cameras, portable radios, hazardous gas detectors, and personnel accountability systems.
