Gomez Secures Funding for the Hampden District C3 Initiative
State Senator Adam Gómez (D-Springfield) has announced that an initiative he sponsored during the Senate budget debate aimed at boosting public safety in the Hampden district was adopted by the body. Through an amendment submitted by the third term Senator, the Hampden District C3 (Counter Criminal Continuum) Initiative will receive $50,000 to support C3 police management in low income and downtown neighborhoods in the cities of Springfield and Chicopee.
Gómez had this to say on the amendment being adopted, “The Hampden C3 Initiative is a unique and impact collaboration whose success in Springfield has led to its expansion into Chicopee, where similar partnerships are fostering meaningful change. I am proud to see this legislature prioritize funding that maintains trust between our local police departments and the public to ensure our communities are a safer place to live.
The Hampden District C-3 initiative is a collaboration of community residents, area service providers and the local police departments that is designed to promote a positive interaction between residents and law enforcement. This program allows residents to learn of the many good works and services offered within the city as well as lifting up opportunities for positive interactions with our law enforcement officers.
